Spanish first and second-division clubs are considering going on strike to protest against changes made by the Spanish government in a new sports law draft.

The governing body of elite Spanish soccer, LaLiga, is furious that an amendment intended to prevent Spanish clubs from participating in a breakaway Super League has been withdrawn, alleging pressure from Real Madrid and Barcelona, two of the masterminds behind the new competition.

The changes would mean that LaLiga and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) would be unable to refuse a license to clubs playing in competitions that aren’t recognised by football’s governing bodies.

Chelsea and Manchester United battled to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League after Jorginho's penalty was canceled out by Casemiro's injury-time equaliser.

In what was an engaging but goalless match for most of the 90 minutes, United controlled the first half-hour until Graham Potter made a tactical change, replacing Marc Cucurella with Mateo Kovacic and creating a more balanced midfield with both sides playing tactical tit for tat, making forays into each other's defensive positions.

But Jorginho broke the deadlock with his goal from the spot in the 87th minute after McTominay was penalised for manhandling Broja during a corner kick.

In the 94th minute, with two minutes to go, United clawed back the result  through Casemiro as his header bounced off the post and passed goalkeeper Kepa, passing over the line.

The result is the fifth straight draw between both clubs, and leaves United one point behind Chelsea for fourth place in the table.

Speaking after the game, Ten Hag said: 'We dictated the game'

"I have to make a big compliment to my team. To fight back with a fourth game in 10 days, you see the spirit and how they deal with setbacks. Really good.

"First half Rashford had two big chances, Antony one against one. You have to score goals in such moments because in top games three chances is massive. You have to score.

"We dictated the game and I am happy with that. If you concede a goal late it is difficult.

"Eight minutes before half time we had some troubles but defence in the second half we didn't have troubles. The second half we didn't really create big chances, but also Chelsea didn't.

"I think it is a fair result. I would have been disappointed if we had gone without a point because we didn't deserve that. At the end of a tough week to come here, you bring the point home."

Bruno Fernandes speaking to Sky Sports after the match, said;

"The first half was really good from us after the tactical changes. We had some problems in the middle but we found our positions and had chances.

"They get the goal from the penalty but we kept fighting, the spirit was amazing. A point is not what we wanted but it's a good point.

"The togetherness and the spirit is amazing, we showed it once again.

"I don't know if it was a penalty. Scott said he was not holding him but I'd have to see it again."

Asked about Ronaldo who didn't play after he was suspended by Ten Haag for leaving the field before the full time whistle during the mid-week match against Tottenham.

Fernandes added: "We don't talk about that, no one else has to know what we think.

"The most important thing for everyone, including Cristiano, is that the team wins."

An Erling Haaland double ensured there was no Manchester City hangover from last week's defeat at Liverpool.

The Norwegian took his tally to 22 goals from 15 matches - 17 in the Premier League - to help City to a 3-1 victory over Brighton.

The Seagulls threatened a comeback in the second half, with Leandro Trossard pulling a goal back before Kevin De Bruyne killed off the game with a wonderful strike.

Of all the people, in all the games. Taiwo Awoniyi spent seven years as a Liverpool player, yet never got the chance to pull on a Liverpool shirt in a competitive match. He had loan after loan, never realising his dream of representing the Reds.

But here, at the City Ground, he broke his former club’s heart, his goal handing the other Reds, Nottingham Forest, their first Premier League win since August and proving that for all the talk of a revival after recent wins against Manchester City and West Ham, the foundations of Jurgen Klopp’s side are still shaky, to say the least.

Liverpool were nothing like fluent as Forest defended doggedly, dragged Klopp's side into a battle and then buried them early in the second half through Awoniyi.

  • Iwobi had a starring role against Crystal Palace
  • Nigerian was at the centre of Everton play
  • 26-year-old awarded Man of the Match gong

WHAT HAPPENED? Iwobi was the chief architect of Palace’s downfall and took just 11 minutes to make an impact as his early forays forward saw him receive the ball before squaring off to Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The striker broke through the defence before collecting the brilliant pass and produced a precise strike to beat the goalkeeper.

Iwobi then started the move that led to Everton’s second goal as he found Demarai Gray, who was already on his bike, the England international passed to left-back Vitali Mykolenko, and after the Ukrainian’s shot was parried away, but Anthony Gordon tapped in the rebound for a 2-0 lead in the 63rd minute.
